COVID-19 Update

03.23.2020

Together we are faced with a virus (COVID-19) that has clearly disrupted most of our lives, whether it is travel, entertainment, worship or perhaps even employment.

At this time, Kenco is operating business as usual. Our office is open, and we are running 15 crews to support our clients’ projects across the Lower 48. For the health and safety of our crews and the efficient and successful transport of your client’s cargo, we have put in place some changes we’d like to communicate:

  • Out of concern for the safety of our employees, we have instructed them to not stay in the closest or cheapest hotel rooms available where it may be unsanitary or higher risk. They may have to drive farther and spend more. They have also been instructed to request the room be sanitized upon arrival, pulling back the bedcovers, cleaning high touch surface areas, as well as bath areas. While we know this will have an impact on costs, we are not adjusting our per diem rates today. Instead, we will monitor and keep our clients informed should an adjustment be necessary in the future.
Our crews have been issued wipes, sprays and other products to promote increased personal hygiene and environmental cleaning. They have also been instructed to not shake hands, maintain social distancing at any opportunity and contact our office immediately should they notice any symptoms themselves or with a teammate. All instructions and precautions as per CDC guidelines were reviewed with our entire staff.
We have already seen closed gas stations across the U.S. on routes. To that end, our crews will stop and fill up more frequently. When the opportunity arises and there is no disruption to the transport, our crews will stop and top off, as there is no guarantee fuel will be available down the road.
  • Restaurant closures have also impacted our crews. In order to maintain proper nourishment on the road, we have encouraged grocery shopping whenever possible to avoid fast-food/takeout. We have also discussed delivery of better foods from restaurants using services/apps such as Uber Eats and Door Dash.
