A Quick Guide to Bucket Truck Safety Certifications

12.1.2021

Bucket truck safety certifications are the first step to ensure safe OS/OW transports. At Kenco, we’ve developed a proprietary library of safety training videos and certification programs that exceed the requirements of the top safety organizations in the industry. As a leading authority on lower 48 transports, our crews are among the most highly trained experts in the country. Here’s a rundown on three of the organizations we refer to for safety certifications.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
Bucket truck escort services do more than escort loads. Crews are also responsible for clearing obstructions and working with and around specialized equipment such as cranes and rigging. On the road, crews need to be vigilant about fall hazards and electrical safety. Kenco crews attend hands-on workshops to learn OSHA standards, policies and fall protection measures, including completing comprehensive OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour Construction Training Courses.

International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA)
Traffic control devices present the most common obstructions on a route. To ensure a snag-free journey, Kenco crews receive extensive IMSA training and certification, including IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification and IMSA Traffic Signal Technician I and II Certification. By fully understanding traffic control devices and their electrical components, certified crew members can efficiently clear obstacles and save time and resources on a transport.

Houston Area Safety Council (HASC) and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)
Kenco is based in Baytown, east of Houston, Texas, so our crews have extensive training opportunities through HASC and TxDOT. These specialized courses include advanced skills training in roadway illumination and National Electrical Code (NEC) procedures for electrical installation of traffic signals, including TxDOT TRF450 and TRF453 Certifications.

In addition to these certification programs, Kenco crews are trained in mechanical aptitude and hand-tool knowledge to ensure they can safely and efficiently operate our state-of-the-art purple bucket trucks™.

Kenco has spent decades investing in high-quality training programs to guarantee our crews are experts in the field. Ready to schedule your next bucket truck escort? Contact us today!
